ColdFusion Administrator logs out when trying to make configuration changes

Sometimes when submitting changes on any of the configuration sections on Adobe ColdFusion 2016 Release Administrator, an error is shown that says There was an error accessing this page.  Check logs for more detail.

CF Administrator error

In the log a new entry appeared that says There was an error while verifying the token. Either the session timed out or un-authenticated access is suspected.

I restarted the server but the error persisted, the message in the log about error verifying the token or session timed out gave me a clue about where to look, Adobe ColdFusion uses cookies to track the session CFID and CFTOKEN, with the Web Developer Extension for Firefox you can see the cookies set on the browser and I see more than one CFID and CFTOKEN

The solution I found to this is to delete all the cookies, you can delete them with the Web Developer extension with Delete Domain Cookies if the browser is displaying CF Administrator or Delete Session Cookies, with this last one all the sessions you had opened in different sites will be closed.

Then click on "Click here to login" and log in again, now try to make any changes on the CF Administrator and this time you won't be kicked out.

You can delete the cookies also without installing Web Developer, in Chrome, in the top right menu selecting History (Ctrl+H) and then Clear Browsing data on the left menu

 ->

finally, check the option Cookies and other site data and press CLEAR DATA

Steps vary depending on the browser you are using, so check the help in your browser on how to delete the cookies, and that will do the trick.

I hope this information save you some time researching for fixes in this odd behavior on Adobe ColdFusion Administrator.
